Your eyes do not deceive you. McDonald’s really is adding a new Mac & Cheese item to its menus... at least in its Ohio region restaurants.
In the latest surprising menu trial, McDonald’s will be offering 4 oz. servings of the cheesy goodness for $1.75 a la carte and $3 in a Happy Meal, the company says, using "real cheese" that is "a blend of cheeses used for this ooey gooey goodness.” Website Eater also confirmed that the chain will be shipping in the products frozen.
Only available in 18 restaurants in the Northeast Ohio area so far, Communications Manager for McDonald's Ohio, Phil Saken, told news source amNewYork that he's not allowed to speculate on whether the “McMac” will be seen in any other markets. ”It’s premature to draw any conclusions from this test,” he said.
With last month’s announcement that the chain is rolling out deep-fried mozzarella sticks nationwide in 2016, McDonald’s has given cheese producers a lot to smile about for the upcoming year.
It's hard not to be a little excited about what the fast-food giant will think of next as it rolls out new product after new product in 2015. Will the New Year bring a McTaco? Or a McBeer for that matter? Only time will tell if our foodie prayers get answered.
