Sysco Teams Up with Tesla for an Electric Semi Tractor Fleet

Monday, December 11th, 2017

As it joins retailers like Meijer and Loblaw, Sysco Corporation is the latest food provider to partner up with Tesla. The company is now slated to introduce Tesla’s new fully-electric tractors to its fleet come 2019, when production is set to begin. The company has requested 50 of the vehicles from the automotive trend-setting maker, one of the biggest reported reservations from Tesla in the food industry so far.

In addition to the positive environmental impacts, we will also benefit from reduced fuel and maintenance costs and drive associate enthusiasm with the introduction of new and unique technology.”

This partnership comes as an effort to cut down on unnecessary spending on transpiration, while staying true to corporate promises for more environmentally-friendly business practices. The vehicles will be able to drive up to 500 miles on a single charge and will lessen the cost of cargo transport, as they simultaneously decrease the company’s environmental footprint. This is a huge step towards the company’s goal of employing a completely electric fleet.
