Food distributor US Foods is growing its presence in the South and expanding its Chef’Store concept with a new location for the foodservice-focused wholesale outlet.
According to local news source The Post and Courier, the company is moving ahead with plans to open its fifth Chef’Store location in the Southern food mecca of Charleston, South Carolina.
The Illinois-based foodservice provider will break ground on its new 59,000-square-foot Chef’Store location—located on 9 acres on the city’s upper peninsula—this month.
In August of this year, US Foods purchased the plot of land on which the new store will stand for a reported $7.9 million. When completed, the new location will offer wholesale food, equipment, and supplies to the restaurant industry—with offerings from more than 350,000 brands represented.
The new Chef’Store location will join stores in Charlotte, NC; Columbia, SC; Oklahoma City, OK; and Tempe, AZ, and further grow US Foods’ presence in the region.
US Foods currently operates more than 60 US Foods distribution facilities in 37 states.
