Artist PES Brings Sports to the Sandwich Shop in New Stop-Motion Short

CALIFORNIA

Ever wondered what a pair of tube socks taste like? Believe it or not, you just might after watching Adam Pesapane's latest artistic creation.

The California-based filmmaker, who publishes his work under the name PES, wowed watchers with a stop-motion video depicting him whipping up a “submarine” sandwhich. The premium cold-cut trio he used for this venture? A boxing glove, a baseball mitt and a football.

You can watch the film for yourself below:

This isn't the first time Pesapane has made headlines for playing with his food either. Back in 2012 he published a short film entitled “Fresh Guacamole” in which he turned harmless avocados into explosive grenades.

"It’s just one of those little ideas, and everyone has these things that amuse you," PES shared with The Verge. "For me, I use them as cornerstones for films because that’s my way of saying, 'hey this is really funny, I see this in the world and I don't know if anyone else sees this, but those avocados are just like grenades.'"

"I like touching things, I like handling things," he continued. "I like giant cutting boards that are scarred over 200 years, I like knives that I found in Mexico that were handmade in the 1800s. I like deli cabinets that have oak doors on the back and really creaky hinges. I like stuff, and I like the texture of stuff. And so part of my films are about this sort of deification of stuff, and texture, and that beautiful thing about real life, versus that sanitary feeling that you often get from a computer."

What's next for Pesapane? Shoelace smoothies? Snowboard steaks? Whatever it ends up being, I know I'll be sure to give it a look.
