ELIZABETH, NJ
During the 86th Annual British Empire Cheese Competition, Atalanta’s award-winning Tania Toscano Sheep’s Milk Cheese and Lindsay Bandaged Cheddar from Mariposa Dairy placed first in the Artisan Sheep’s Milk Cheese and Goat’s Milk categories, respectively. Both are sold under the Lenberg Farms Classic Reserve brand. Held by the Central Ontario Cheese Maker Association, the show honors Canadian Cheddars, Artisan Specialty Cheese, and Butters. All products must be hand-crafted and sourced from 100% local milk.
Mariposa and Atalanta took home 10 awards total, including honors for their Celebrity Goat Cheeses, which won five of 10 awards in the Goat Milk Cheese category alone. Mariposa was also honored as the dairy with the highest aggregate score throughout the competition, according to a press release.
Most recently, Mariposa Dairy also took home top honors with its Tania Toscano Sheep’s Milk Cheese during the 91st annual Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, along with winning awards at the American Cheese Society Awards in both 2012 and 2013.
