BelGioioso Cheese was the big winner at this year's American Cheese Society Contest, taking home five different “Best of Class” blue ribbons for its American Grana®, Crema di Mascarpone, Fresh Mozzarella, Burrata and Black Truffle Burrata.
“We are honored to receive these awards,” Gaetano Auricchio, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for BelGioioso Cheese said. “Our farmers work hard to produce a high level of quality milk and our Cheesemakers are truly dedicated to their craft. American Grana and Burrata were both awarded first place medals at the World Championship Cheese Contest in March and these ACS awards continue to highlight our commitment to quality and exceptional flavor.”
According to a press release, BelGioioso's American Grana® is hand crafted by the company's Master Cheesemakers from locally sourced fresh milk in Pulaski, Wisconsin. Each 70lb wheel is aged on wooden shelves for 18 months to create the deep, nutty flavor profile and the granular texture the cheese is known for.
The BelGioioso Burrata is a specialty Fresh Mozzarella, which is made from local Wisconsin milk only a few hours removed from the milking process. This gives the cheese a fresh, creamy taste.
In all, BelGioioso won seven ribbons during the 31st Annual ACS Conference & Competition, with a 2nd place finish for its Mascarpone and a 3rd place finish for its Parmesan to add to its collection of blue ribbons.
According to a press release, the ACS Contest received 1,685 different entries from 248 cheese companies.
Congratulations on the awards, BelGioioso!
