SPRINGFIELD, MA
Carando® Classic Italian Meats spent the Christmas holiday weekend honoring America's soldiers with a special Christmas Ham Dinner at the Barnes Air National Guard Base. Together with the local retailer Big Y®, the company provided a feast of Carando premium hams, green beans, oven roasted potatoes, mac & cheese and chocolate chip cookies though its "Carando Cares" initiative.
"We can never take for granted all of the sacrifices that our military makes for us," said Mike Sargent, brand manager for Carando. "It is truly an honor to serve these individuals who have served us. This meal is just our way of saying 'thank you' for all of their dedication and the sacrifices they have made for our country."
"Freedom is not free, and all of us at Big Y are honored to help our National Guard military families right here in our Barnes Air National Guard base," agreed Donald H. D'Amour, Chairman of the Board for Big Y.
According to a press release, last weekend's event marked the second time the two companies have joined together to give back to the Massachusetts community. Last year, the organizations served all of the Springfield's firefighters in a Christmas dinner.
Since 2013, "Carando Cares" has allowed the company to show its thanks to Boston's fire stations, serve Easter dinner to the children at Shriners Hospital for Children-Boston and treat the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine to a baseball game and most recently a holiday ham dinner.
Great work Carando®!
