Carando® Partners with Hannaford® for “Carando Cares” Campaign

LISLE, IL

Carando® Classic Italian Meats teamed up with Hannaford® to provide a meal for the Big Brothers Big Sisters annual holiday party in Portland, Maine.

More than 100 kids, volunteers and staff of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine were treated to a feast of Carando premium hams, green beans, macaroni & cheese and pumpkin pie as part of the “Carando Cares” campaign to help local communities in the New England area.

“After hosting a summer picnic and day at the ballpark for the children in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine, Carando graciously hosted our holiday meal and party in Portland for the program’s kids and their big brother and sister mentors,” said Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director Sam Beal. “Carando and Hannaford are again proving to be real friends to kids in our program. This holiday party would be difficult for us to provide, if not impossible, without their generosity.”

According to a press release, the campaign has included serving Christmas lunch to the city’s firefighters in Springfield, Massachusetts, providing an Easter dinner to the patients of the Shriners Hospital for Children-Boston and delivering hams to each of the city’s fire stations in Boston.

Hannaford has worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters for a long time and was excited to partner with Carando for a second time to assist the organization.

“Helping children to celebrate the holidays with a feast is a real treat for all of us here at Hannaford,” said Eric Blom, Spokesman. “Our company is thrilled to work with partners such as Carando and Big Brothers Big Sisters to brighten the day of so many young people in our community, not only during this special season but throughout the year.”

Mike Sargent, Brand Manager at Carando, added, “We’ve really enjoyed helping out wonderful organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters throughout our ‘Carando Cares’ campaign. It’s a great feeling to offer a helping hand to the people who do so much to make our communities a better place. We look forward to many more events like this in the future.”

Carando will be continuing its “Carando Cares” campaign with additional events throughout 2014 and 2015.
