Food Service Cheese Trends Revealed by Latest Technomic Study


More cheese dishes are being served at fast-casual restaurant, according to trends identified by Technomic in a recent blog post. Rich and cheesy menu items are appearing on more menus, according to the research company's MenuMonitor, which uses databases to analyze trends in restaurant offerings. Technomic lists cheese-championing new dishes as one of the top 10 restaurant trends for 2014.

From Q4 2013, a host of new menu items are listed, and the basic fact that cheese is trending is undeniable. The blog post is quick to point out another, seemingly competing trend: consumers want to eat healthy, and are making healthier decisions. This is not to say that cheese is unhealthy though, and with all the new creamy, melty choices from restaurants, it is clear that cheese is becoming more popular.
