Jewel-Osco’s parent company, New Albertsons Inc., is acquiring five more Dominick’s locations and has named Shane Sampson as the new President of the Illinois-based retailer, according to a press release.

“Shane is an exceptional leader and his work at Shaw’s over the last year proves that he is the right executive to be at the helm of our largest division,” said Justin Dye, COO at New Albertson’s Inc. “As we look to grow the brand for the future, Shane and his seasoned leadership team will be key to building on all we were able to accomplish in 2013.”
New Albertson’s Inc. is investing $100 million in new projects and remodels for Jewel-Osco, its largest division, according to Chicago Tribune. So far, the company has purchased a total of nine former Dominick’s locations, including those that were just purchased. Safeway’s real estate website lists 28 remaining Dominick’s stores as of Friday, March 7.
As his term begins, Sampson will be responsible for remodeling and reopening these additional five former Dominick’s locations, which include the stores located at:
• 3243 S. 115th St, Merionette Park IL
• 1763 Howard St, Chicago IL
• 800 NW Highway, Fox River Grove IL
• 345 S. Rand Road, Lake Zurich IL
• 424 W. Division, Chicago IL
Just yesterday, Safeway and Albertsons signed a $9 billion merger agreement. The combined company will span over 2,400 stores, 27 distribution facilities, and 20 manufacturing plants with over 250,000 employees, according to a press release.
