Panera Bread CFO Steps Down


ST. LOUIS, MO

Roger MatthewsPanera Bread Executive Vice President and CFO, Roger Matthews, has stepped down to pursue other opportunities.

Bill Moreton, Panera’s Executive Vice Chair, will take over as interim CFO until a permanent replacement can be found, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

“Panera Bread is a tremendous brand and it was a great experience to work with their highly motivated team,” Matthews said in a statement.  “The commitment to great food and a differentiated customer experience has served Panera well and will continue to into the future.”

Matthews will remain with the company until August 31 to assist with the transition.

“We thank Roger for his contribution and counsel during his time at Panera,” Panera CEO Ron Shaich said in a statement.  “I appreciate his dedication and passion to the business, and wish him every success in his next role.”

Before taking over as Panera’s CFO in March of 2013, Roger held various positions at Goldman Sachs going back to 1996 where he focused on the U.S. restaurant sector from 2006 until January 2013, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.
