CUDAHY, WI
Patrick Cudahy is returning as a sponsor for the third-annual BACONFEST MKE this weekend, presented by 102.9 The HOG.
This February 16th, guests who visit the Harley-Davidson Museum will be treated to bacon-inspired recipes from Milwaukee’s best chefs and restaurants, cooking demos, and Patrick Cudahy Sweet Apple-Wood Smoked Bacon samples, according to a press release. Patrick Cudahy will also hand out coupons and recipes at its display booth along with its own photo booth.
Here are a few highlights from last year's BACONFEST MKE...
For the past 16 years, Patrick Cudahy has sponsored the Wisconsin State Fair’s “Bacon Lover’s Day” and brought events to the area such as the “Patrick Cudahy Race for the Bacon 5k” and the “Say Hey Patrick Cudahy” photo booth mobile tour.
For those who can’t attend the festival, here’s a quick recipe from Patrick Cudahy…
Bacon & Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookies
• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1 cup packed brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 large eggs
• 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 (12 ounce) bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 1 cup chopped walnuts
• 5 slices Patrick Cudahy Sweet Apple-Wood Smoked Bacon, cooked crisp, finely chopped divided
Directions:
Heat oven to 375F. In large bowl of electric mixer, beat together butter and shortening until well blended. Beat in granulated sugar then brown sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs one at a time, scraping down sides of bowl once. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into butter mixture until soft dough forms. Stir in chocolate chips, walnuts and 1/4 cup of the bacon by hand. Drop dough by heaping tablespoonful onto ungreased cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Press a few of the remaining bacon pieces over each cookie. Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer cookie sheets to wire racks; cool completely.
