HYANNIS, MA
Snyder’s-Lance is completing a $10 million investment to improve operations and boost sustainability at its manufacturing facility in Hyannis, where the company makes Cape Cod Potato Chips.
Over the last three years, Snyder’s-Lance has made several capital improvements to the plant, which is one of the area’s top tourist destinations with over 350,000 visitors annually.
The company has invested in new cooking kettles as well as making various energy-saving upgrades to its mechanical systems. These improvements have resulted in annual energy and greenhouse gas reductions equivalent to planting more 85 acres of trees, or removing 22 cars from the road, according to a press release.
"Our Hyannis plant has a long history in this community, and it's very important that we continue to invest in and improve the plant's operations," said Pat McInerney, Snyder's-Lance Senior Vice President of Manufacturing. "Our focus is to partner with the Hyannis community to identify ways we can continue to be a good corporate citizen."
Additionally, the Hyannis facility has partnered with a local solar farm to purchase solar credits that support the company’s initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on Cape Cod.
Other parts of the investment plan, which includes construction on a new, state-of-the-art wastewater pretreatment plant should be completed by the end of the year. At that time, the existing wastewater pre-treatment facility will be decommissioned to create space for additional parking and future growth.
Good job on the improvements, Snyder’s-Lance!
