COLORADO, U.S.
Trader Joe's is opening its first three Colorado stores, according to the Denver Post.
"I've been waiting 15 years for this," said shopper Lisa Hoest. "I moved here from California, and I've been having my girlfriends send me products in the mail."
Before the long-awaited Denver store opened at 8AM on Friday, about 250 people waited in a line which wrapped around the building. By the time these intrepid shoppers actually paid for their groceries at the check-out line, many had been in the store for five hours or more. Also, parking lots were full and a one-hour parking limit was strictly enforced on the streets near the Denver location on the day of the grand opening.
The Denver store also has a wine shop in a separate store front next door.
As well as the three new stores in Denver, Boulder and Greenwood Village, two additional locations are currently under development in Fort Collins and Central Denver. These additional stores are expected to be opened later this year.
