TAUNTON, MA
Hummus is hot right now, at least it will be. Literally.
Tribe, provider of what it calls the “caviar of hummus,” is introducing the latest, hottest trend in flavors and sauces to the hummus world: Sriracha.
“Hummus and sriracha are the perfect combination, not just on the palate, but also in terms of popularity,” Adam Carr, CEO of Tribe, said in a press release. “Consumers are looking for foods that are not only better for them, but also excite them. Tribe is a leader in creating those uniquely bold blends they seek. And now with Fiery Sriracha, we’re really bringing the heat.”
Foods containing a kick is something the American consumer is pursuing more and more. Rogue Ales has also added a sriracha beer, and UV Vodka introduced sriracha-flavored vodka in a bizarre twist to the flavor frenzy. But studies show that as popularity in pepper and spice flavors rise, so has consumer tolerance. Recognizing this, the company didn’t stop at just adding Fiery Sriracha. Red chilli pepper flakes were also added to spice things up even more.
“Non-traditional hummus flavors represented nearly half of total hummus sales in 2014,” Carr continued. “We can only imagine sales of non-traditional flavors will continue to increase as hummus lovers look for new and exciting variations of something they already love.”
Tribe’s Limited Batch Fiery Sriracha will be available in 8 ounce bowls, retailing for $3.49, and will be available at fine grocery stores nationwide later this month.
