This week, I was lucky enough to attend my first Winter Fancy Food Show. The experience was amazing. Here are my top 3 highlights from the event.
THE FOOD:
It goes without saying, but all of the different foods have to be the top highlight from the show. They were equal parts fancy and delicious. Going a bit further, I specifically enjoyed trying so many of the sofi™ Award winners that I have both read and written about in the past.
THE PEOPLE:
This is an amazing industry, and its members are full of passion for their craft. It was great to catch up with all of the people that I’ve met before, as well as meeting a whole new set of great people on the show floor. It was certainly a highlight to be able to put a face to the name, or voice in some cases, of people that I’ve spoken to or emailed with previously but hadn’t had the opportunity to meet yet.
LEADERSHIP AWARDS/HALL OF FAME:
It was great to see the 6 industry members being honored with Leadership Awards on the first night of the show. The event also celebrated the 114 inductees into the newly created Specialty Food Association Hall of Fame. It is people like these that helped create and shape the $88.3 billion specialty food industry.
The 2015 Winter Fancy Food Show was a fantastic experience. I’m already counting down to the next show.
