Ken Meyers Discusses New Spreadable Cheeses and Cheddar Lines at IDDBA 2019

I’m a sucker for a good Cheddar, so of course when I found myself at Old Croc’s booth on the IDDBA show floor, you can imagine just how many samples I took. Not only does the Australian brand have three new products coming out, it’s nailing that down-under flavor. I spoke with Ken Meyers, President and CEO of Trugman-Nash, the marketers of Old Croc Cheese, to find out more.

Ken Meyers, President, Trugman-Nash“Trugman Nash has been around for over 60 years. It was the original importers of Australian dairy into the United States. We bought the company about ten or twelve years ago with the idea of taking the imports from Australia and creating a grass-fed Cheddar cheese line,” he explained to me, before diving into the details of the cheese lines.

Old Croc is introducing new spreadable Cheddars—in flavors Bacon Jalapeño, Roasted Garlic and Herb, and Sharp Cheddar—a new Classic Cheddar, which is ideal for a variety of recipes; and a Grand Reserve Cheddar.

“As most people know, our slogan is Careful, it bites!®, but we realized so many people are looking for a milder version, as well as something that would be more shreddable and sliceable for their burgers and other recipes. So, we’ve created what we call our Classic Cheddar, which gives a real fantastic, grass-fed Cheddar flavor,” he shared.

In addition, the Grand Reserve Cheddar—a personal favorite of Ken’s, and soon to be a personal favorite of mine—is hitting store shelves for those people who like their Cheddar to have a bite to it.
