McAlister’s Deli is expanding its footprint in the Phoenix, Arizona area with five new restaurants.
Phoenix, Tempe, Chandler, and Gilbert are among the areas in which the company has expressed interest in opening these new locations. Franchisees Jyoti Madhura, Preet Saini, and Sanjiv Bhagat will open their first McAlister’s location next summer as part of this recently announced franchise agreement.
Jeff Sturgis, McAlister’s Vice President of Franchise Development, said that Arizona continues to play an important role in the company’s growth strategy. He also emphasized his excitement in opening these new locations with such a strong restaurant operator.
“With only two locations in the entire state, we have significant opportunity to grow our footprint, particularly in Phoenix,” said Sturgis. “Jyoti, Preet, and Sanjiv have a strong background operating restaurants across the Western U.S. and we’re thrilled they have joined McAlister’s.”
Millennials appear to be a significant target for growth, especially for Arizona’s restaurant industry. Saini noted in a press release that this consumer group is dining out more and eager to try new concepts.
“Coupled with the fact that these days more people are choosing healthier food options, it was a strategic choice to find a brand that offered healthier menu items for residents,” said Saini. “Additionally, fast casual is the fastest-growing segment of the restaurant industry, so we’re confident McAlister’s will do incredibly well in Phoenix and are excited to grow the brand’s presence here.”
McAlister’s Deli has been recognized twice by Technomic for its Consumers’ Choice Awards for Chain Restaurants. Once in 2015 as top fast casual chain for pleasant, friendly service, and another in 2014 as the top kid-friendly fast casual chain.
