Columbus Foods is embracing some big changes with a newly appointed CEO that’s positioning the company for strong branded growth in the deli category in the months to come.
Joseph Ennen recently took the top spot as Columbus’ Chief Executive earlier this year, taking over for the now retired Tim Fallon. His long-standing experience building successful programs for food companies such as Lucerne Foods, General Mills, PepsiCo’s Frito Lay division, and Con Agra’s Healthy Choice division, has prepared him to take the Columbus brand to new heights as it approaches its 100th anniversary in 2017.
“It is an exciting to be able to have an executive of [Ennen’s] caliber to build on the legacy of manufacturing great tasting salami and deli meats,” the company said in a press release.
Prior to joining Columbus, Ennen led the Safeway corporate brand team, which had responsibility for manufacturing and marketing 18 brands across 800 categories.
With a new line of sliced artisan products such as the Finnochiona, Hot Sopressata, Crespone, and Charcuterie Sampler featuring four different varieties of Salami, Columbus Foods is continuing to find innovative ways to help retailers continue differentiating their deli departments.
