Dietz & Watson's Louis Eni Discusses New Originals Natural Snacking Line and More

Better-for-you snacking is popular. It’s no secret. But having the right assortment throughout the deli department to maximize profitability and quality and keep customers coming back for more is a serious undertaking. Thankfully, Dietz & Watson is up to the challenge. The company is bringing its latest product line, Dietz & Watson Originals, to IDDBA this month and showcasing the line’s on-trend health attributes, wide assortment of offerings, innovative flavors, and dynamic packaging.

“These items are all No Antibiotics ever and include organic options as well,” Eni continued. “From high-protein charcuterie snacks and beef jerky to rBGH-free cheese curds and medallions to fire roasted vegetables and imported pouched olives, this better-for-you Originals snacking line positions us for growth in this category for years to come.”

Dietz & Watson’s Originals line features a variety of snacking options—from savory cure meats to piquant peppers. Options include:

  • Four flavors of Originals Organic Beef Jerky in 2.5 oz resealable pouches, including Chipotle, Pepper, Teriyaki, and Classic Beef Jerky
  • Three varieties of 2.2 oz pouched olives—Seasoned, Green, and Citrus
  • 12 oz Roasted Red and Yellow Peppers, Tri-color Sweety Peppers, and Sweety Pepper Drops
  • Mixed packs of Piquillo Peppers with Artichoke Quarters, Artichoke Halves and Eggplant
  • Four oz meat and cheese medallions and mini paninos snack packs, including peperoni, Genoa salami, or prosciutto wrapped over mozzarella cheese.

Dietz & Watson’s Originals line also includes classic protein offerings. The Originals line offers a Truffle Salami, Sopressata, Pepper Salami, Chorizo, Genoa Salami, and an Herb de Provence Salami.

“In addition to the product attributes of No Antibiotics Ever and Organic, research shows that packaging is especially important in this category,” Eni said. “Products in resealable packaging and smaller portion sizes helps to increase snacking portability and overall convenience, so we really focused hard to deliver the best and most convenient, reusable packaging we could to our better-for-you snacking consumer!”

Additionally, Dietz & Watson is highlighting its Gas Flushed Grab & Go program—as a way to increase revenue, reduce labor cost, and eliminate long lines in the service deli. Using a patent pending process, the Gas Flushed Grab & Go program allows retailers to create a grab and go section without needing the labor at store level to slice, weigh, tag, and bag product.

“The program eliminates labor costs associated with slicing and bagging the product, giving you increased dollars to your bottom line while creating additional sales by a convenient item for shoppers,” added Eni.

And with in-store support and visual content to assist in training deli staff, Dietz & Watson’s Gas Flushed Grab & Go program is easy to execute and sure to increase profitability.
