After announcing the planned acquisition of AdvancePierre for more than $4 billion this April and finalizing the deal earlier this month, Tyson Foods has named a new Chief Integration Officer to support acquisitions and help drive strategic growth.
In a company press release, Tyson has announced that George Chappelle, current Chief Operating Officer at AdvancePierre Foods, has been selected to assume the role. In his new position, Chappelle will report directly to Tyson Foods President and CEO Tom Hayes and join the company’s Enterprise Leadership Team.
“George’s experience and leadership will be valuable as we bring these two companies together and work to generate cost synergy benefits of $200 million within three years,” said Hayes. “An effective integration is an extremely important part of our strategic focus on sustainably feeding the world with the fastest growing portfolio of protein packed brands.”
In his new position, Chappelle will lead the company’s Integration Management Office and all aspects of the integration of AdvancePierre. Chappelle will continue to lead operations for AdvancePierre, as well, piloting that aspect of the Cincinnati-based ready-to-eat sandwich, sandwich components, and snack foods provider’s $1.6 billion-dollar-a-year business.
Chappelle joined AdvancePierre as SVP – Supply Chain in 2014. In 2016, he became Chief Operating Officer. Priorly, Chappelle held operations and information technology leadership roles at a variety of companies including Solo Cup, Sara Lee Foods, and the Gillette Company. Chappelle earned a Master of Science in Applied Management at Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a Bachelor of Science in information technology from Westfield State College in Westfield, Massachusetts.
We at Deli Market News congratulate Chappelle on his latest appointment and wish him and Tyson Foods well in their future endeavors.
