HORMEL® BLACK LABEL® upped the ante this week by launching The Black Market, a game-changing, multisensory virtual reality shopping experience designed to both launch users on an immersive bacon quest and drive online sales.
“We’re proud to advance our mission of celebrating the exceptional, pushing bacon forward, and bringing better bacon into more homes with new distribution channels and buying experiences,” said Steve Venenga, Vice President of Marketing at Hormel Foods. “The bacon needs of consumers and HORMEL BLACK LABEL bacon customers are constantly changing, prompting us to create experiences that deliver beyond their expectations.”
Consumers can experience The Black Market by visiting www.blacklabelbacon.com on their smartphone. The platform doesn’t require an app or a headset, but users can acquire a free, limited edition, bacon-scented Google Cardboard (available on The Black Market) to heighten the experience.
Less adventurous bacon buyers may also purchase HORMEL BLACK LABEL products using a streamlined version of the The Black Market on their desktop, and those so inclined can procure the same products at HORMEL BLACK LABEL’s traditional ecommerce storefront.
As an extension of HORMEL BLACK LABEL’s We’re Always The New Black™ campaign, The Black Market celebrates over 100 years of pioneering and fanciful bacon innovations, including the invention of Canadian Bacon and The Reggie Watts Bacon Experience, a genre-bending musical adventure.
Four immersive bacon worlds are currently available through The Black Market, a press release reports. Users can negotiate a Dark Woods, an unstable Volcano, a Salty Sea, and the furthest reaches of Outer Space in order to unlock and buy select varieties of HORMEL BLACK LABEL bacon in virtual reality.
In addition to its current, robust product line, HORMEL BLACK MARKET bacon is available in several new varieties this fall, including Double Smoked bacon, available now, and Low Sodium with Sea Salt bacon, coming in December. Products are available in a variety of different formats, including 16-ounce Single Packs, 24-ounce Stack Packs, and 9.5-ounce Fully-Cooked packages, with more options soon to come.
