So, you love your chicken. Deep fried, and extra crispy. But do you love it enough to put it in your sunscreen and slather it onto your skin? Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) recently put consumers to this test by offering 3,000 bottles of Extra Crispy™ Sunscreen, maximizing on public demand for the tasty meats.

Kevin Hochman, Chief Marketing Officer, KFC U.S.

"Our chicken is hand breaded and freshly prepared in our kitchens all day every day, which is why you can smell our Kentucky Fried Chicken outside of our restaurants," said Kevin Hochman, Chief Marketing Officer for KFC U.S. "Our Extra Crispy Sunscreen is a fun way to leverage that delicious aroma and let our fans live the Extra Crispy lifestyle for themselves."

Monday, chicken loving consumers could visit www.ExtraCrispySunscreen.com to fill out a request form for their free, chicken-scented 30 SPF sun protectant. The deal was only available to U.S. residents, one per household, and was an exclusive run of the sun-shielding treat.

"While I'd love to tell you our customers have been asking for this, they haven't," Hochman added. "In fact, I'm pretty confident nobody ever asked for this. It's just some crazy idea we dreamed up."

Chicken-lovers who missed out on the deal can still view the live website, and find a special message from the Extra Crispy Colonel, according to a press release. The Colonel, played by world famous actor George Hamilton, was recently introduced to the brand’s marketing campaign in June, and is the first product-specific Colonel.

KFC stated that more than 50 percent of Americans are oblivious to the difference and existence of two separate fried chicken recipes through the company; Original Recipe and Extra Crispy. Extra Crispy Chicken and Tenders are very crunchy and juicy, as well as cooked to a golden brown and hand-breaded.

At the time of this writing, the KFC Extra Crispy Sunscreen website indicated that all samples had been claimed.
