La Quercia is adding another win to its record book.

The company’s “charcuterie board crowd pleaser,” Speck Americano, was recently recognized as one of the 176 Good Food Award winners of 2016 nearby the Golden Gate Bridge on the San Francisco Bay on January 15th.

This is the 4th Good Food Award for La Quercia founders Herb & Kathy Eckhouse.

The Speck Americano is a prosciutto that is lightly cold smoked over apple wood and is aged for 9-12 months. Best paired with a hard cider or a wide range of beer and wine, or almost any cheese, the versatility of this unique item makes for a convenient easy happy hour bite.

Speck Americano is made with pork that is raised humanely on family farms in Iowa and central Missouri without the use of antibiotics, according to a press release. Ingredients are pork and sea salt – no nitrates or nitries added.

The Good Food Awards invited numerous farmers, chefs, journalists, and activists to celebrate exceptional food crafters including luminaries Alice Waters, Nell Newman, and Slow Food Founder, Carlo Petrini.
