Perdue Foodservice has reached a new milestone in its campaign to eliminate antibiotics from its poultry products. The company announced yesterday that its entire turkey lineup will now be part of its NO ANTIBIOTICS EVER™ portfolio.
“The NO ANTIBIOTICS EVER™ distinction is very important to us,” said company Chairman Jim Perdue in a press release. “The claim is transparent and absolutely clear: no antibiotics of any kind, at any time.”
Perdue began its NO ANTIBIOTICS EVER™ campaign back in 2002 in an effort to completely eliminate the use of any and all antibiotics throughout the whole production cycle. We reported on Perdue's program early last month, and now Perdue Foodservice offers more than 150 NO ANTIBIOTICS EVER™ chicken and turkey foodservice products to operators across the U.S.. Yesterday’s announcement is both a milestone for Perdue and a first-of-its-kind accomplishment in the foodservice industry.
“When it comes to antibiotic use, we find that consumers have many of the same concerns when they dine out as when they shop for their families,” said Doug Wickman, VP of Foodservice Sales and Marketing at Perdue. “Converting the entire PERDUE® Turkey line to NO ANTIBIOTICS EVER™ is the latest step in helping operators meet demand for premium protein raised without antibiotics.”
Perdue said that its NO ANTIBIOTICS EVER™ turkey products include:
As of now, Purdue raises approximately two-thirds of its chickens without antibiotics and has recently converted its line of frozen and refrigerated convenience products to NO ANTIBIOTICS EVER™.
