Walmart shoppers will now have access to a premium Italian classic, with Consorzio’s pre-sliced Prosciutto di Parma now launching in over 2,700 Walmart stores.
“We’re excited about the latest expansion of Prosciutto di Parma as one of the most groundbreaking retail partnerships in the United States,” said Marketing Director Paolo Tramelli. “Bringing Prosciutto di Parma to such a large nationwide retailer gives people a chance to try the product, who may have not been able to before.”
Pre-sliced Prosciutto di Parma demand is rapidly increasing in the U.S., the company noted in a press release, with it being the U.S. is the number one export market for Prosciutto di Parma and seeing enormous growth in pre-sliced sales between 2013 and 2016. With a 39% increase over the three year period, Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma continues to protect the tradition and rigorous standards instilled in the production process.
Packages will sport the gold Ducal crown in a black triangle in the upper left corner, as required by law, to ensure customers get the “true Parma experience.” The Parma crown shows consumers that the product is guaranteed as 100% authentic, having been sliced and packaged in Parma per its Protected Designation of Origin requirements.
With pre-sliced prosciutto now accounting for 19% of the total Prosciutto di Parma production, and the new access giving to consumers across the nation with this latest leap, Deli Market News will continue to keep you up on this and other deli trends.
