Tyson Foods is bringing Karen Knutson to the global government relations helm. Based in Washington, D.C., she will lead all of the government relations activities for the company and its subsidiaries—including state, federal, and international aspects. Her official title will now be Senior Vice President for Global Government Affairs.
According to Talk Business, Tyson is the largest food company in the U.S., but it has operations internationally, such as in China and India. Prepping her for this role are the 30 years Knutson has spent in government-related roles. She was General Electric’s government affairs and policy leader, and has held positions within the federal government—including Chief of Staff and Legislative Director in the U.S. Senate and Deputy Assistant to Vice President Cheney for domestic policy.
Knutson also brings her experience with a political science degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and law degree from Wake Forest University to the Tyson Foods table.
“Karen brings extraordinary energy, strategic vision, and deep domestic and international expertise to this role,” Executive VP and General Counsel for Tyson Foods Amy Tu shared. “As our company grows, we need the right team to navigate us through increasingly complex policy issues in a dynamic political landscape. We have a terrific team of professionals, and we are excited to welcome Karen. With Karen’s leadership and vision, Tyson Foods will be well-prepared to address the challenging issues facing our company today and tomorrow.”
Congratulations to Karen Knutson and to the whole Tyson Foods team on this exciting new addition!
