Greeley’s Rice’s Honey Celebrates Local Manufacturing and Job Creation with Governor Hickenlooper

GREELEY, CO
Tuesday, December 19th, 2017

Today, Rice’s Honey, a leading producer of high quality, U.S. only raw and unfiltered honey, joined Governor John Hickenlooper, Rice’s Honey employees, Walmart representatives and local officials to celebrate its continuing commitment to manufacturing in Greeley, Colorado. Additionally, the company celebrated Walmart’s commitment to buy an additional $250 billion in products supporting American jobs by 2023. The day also included a tour of the 70,000 square foot manufacturing facility, supporting 20 full-time jobs.

Tony Landretti, Chief Executive Officer, Rice’s Honey“Since we were founded in 1924, we have always remained committed to providing jobs right here in Greeley and supporting local beekeepers,” noted Tony Landretti, Chief Executive Officer of Rice’s Honey. “Our local honey products are an artisan blend of various floral types that are regionally sourced, packed in Greeley, Colorado, and delivered to participating grocery stores throughout the United States. Our continued growth and business with Walmart has allowed us to reinvest in our company by hiring additional employees and expanding our warehouse facility.”

Based on data from Boston Consulting Group, it’s estimated that 1 million new U.S. jobs will be created through Walmart’s initiative, including direct manufacturing job growth of approximately 250,000, and indirect job growth of approximately 750,000 in the support and service sectors.

John Hickenlooper, Governor, Colorado“It's great to see Colorado products get the boost to expand outside our state lines,” said Governor John Hickenlooper. "Partnerships like those Walmart is developing with its suppliers like Rice's Honey strengthen our local economy and build our Co Proud brand nationally, even globally."

Cindi Marsiglio, Vice President, U.S. Manufacturing, Walmart“Our customers have told us that second to price, where products are made influences their purchase decisions,” said Cindi Marsiglio, Vice President, U.S. Manufacturing, Walmart. “We are focused on buying great quality products that create jobs in communities across the U.S. It makes sense for our customers, our communities and our company.”

Rice’s Honey distributes product to approximately 3,000 Walmart stores across the country and has been Walmart supplier for more than 25 years.
