It’s no secret that grocery continues to seek its staple in the increasingly-competitive online retail market. To further develop its own cyber offerings and hone the e-commerce branch of its operations, Publix announced it has created a new executive position: Vice President of Omnichannel and Application Development.
The retailer’s CEO and President Todd Jones announced Erik Katenkamp has been named to the new post.
“We are proud of the work Erik and his team have accomplished. With dedicated resources, we will be able to focus on the accelerated growth of our omnichannel strategy,” said CEO and President Todd Jones. “Our online offerings are an extension of our in-store experience. We remain committed to providing exceptional service to our customers in whichever manner they choose to shop with us."
Katenkamp joined the Publix team in 1995 as an industrial engineer in manufacturing after beginning in the aerospace industry. He has since worked his way up throughout the company, becoming Vice President of Information Systems—Application Development in 2013.
He was instrumental in launching the Publix Delivery online shopping solution, according to a press release, including formalizing Publix’s collaboration with Instacart.
Now, in this new role, Katenkamp will focus on the continued development and execution of the company’s omnichannel strategy.
Congratulations Mr. Katenkamp on this latest step in your retail career!
