As one leader transitions to a new role, others must climb the ladder as well, creating a wave of pivotal growth for the company as a whole. A recent leadership transition is spearheading BJ’S Wholesale Club’s evolution in the grocery space, as the company recently appointed Rachael Vegas as its Executive Vice President, Chief Merchandising Officer, which became effective October 25. The company also announced Tim Morningstar will assume the role of Executive Vice President, Chief Membership Officer and Monica Schwartz will become Executive Vice President, Chief Digital Officer.

Vegas will now be responsible for the strategic leadership of BJ’s merchandising and assortment planning and allocation functions, according to a press release. She will report to Paul Cichocki, Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer.
Before joining the team at BJ’s, Vegas was Senior Vice President, E-commerce Merchandising at H-E-B. In her role, she was responsible for the retailer’s e-commerce business as well as its in-store financial services and payments division and its retail media initiative. Prior to H-E-B, she held various other leadership positions at Brandless, Target, and Delhaize Group.

In addition to Vegas’ appointment, BJ’s also tapped Tim Morningstar to man the helm of its membership operations.
Morningstar will now serve in the new role of Executive Vice President, Chief Membership Officer. His appointment was in effect as of October 25. Morningstar joined BJ’s in 2020 as Senior Vice President, Membership Acquisition and Loyalty and leads the company’s membership and marketing functions.
Morningstar will also report to Cichocki in his new role. Prior to joining the grocer, Morningstar was a partner at a Boston office of Bain & Company.
Monica Schwartz has also stepped into the new role of Executive Vice President, Chief Digital Officer, made effective October 25. Schwartz joined BJ’s in 2020 as Senior Vice President, Chief Digital Officer.As Executive Vice President, Chief Digital Officer, Shwartz is responsible for the strategic leadership of the company’s digital business.
Schwartz will report directly to BJ’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Bob Eddy.
