Caputo Cheese's Natale Caputo Lays Out Developments Driving Company Growth

Heightening opportunities in the retail and foodservice arenas, Caputo Cheese has undergone various developments to continue offering its partners a portfolio of top-quality cheese SKUs. President Natale Caputo recently clued me in on some of the latest points of growth for the provider.

Natale Caputo, President, Caputo Cheese“Caputo Cheese is committed to excellence and strives to bring customers a taste of the old world with new-world service,” Natale tells me. “Our unique packaging, along with our craftsmanship and commitment to providing the finest Italian cheeses, provides our clientele with modern solutions without sacrificing quality.”

Among the most recent developments driving growth for Caputo Cheese is the company’s introduction to robotic manufacturing. This move has not only expanded the producer’s capacity and boosted its supply chain efficiency, but has also made a tremendous impact on lead time.

Backed by this operational advancement, Caputo Cheese is eyeing growth in the retail sector by beginning to offer private-label options to its retail partners. This specifically applies to the brand’s 8 oz fresh mozzarella slices and 8 oz balls, as well as its Parmesan, Romano, Asiago, and PEG Board zipper pouch offerings. Growth is also on the horizon within the foodservice space, with the company centering its focus on back-of-house solutions.

“We understand that labor and waste are big concerns, so we want to focus on unique packaging options to help solve some of these issues,” Natale adds. “A perfect example is our 4 oz Burrata tray. Similar to yogurt packaging, this unique burrata package offers single portions, extended shelf-life, and reduced waste.”

As Caputo focuses on these areas of development, the brand continues to emphasize the value of innovation and providing the best customer experience. Caputo Cheese specializes in hard Italian-style cheeses—Parmesan, Romano, and Asiago—both in traditional and blended varieties that can be customized to meet consumers’ needs. The supplier also produces a full line of fresh mozzarella including its award-winning Burrata, offered in several sizes, shapes, and formats with a variety of packaging options to help streamline operations.
