Hard work and dedication to your craft can take you to many places, especially for Cowgirl Creamery. The California-based cheesemaker has 10 more awards to add to its trophy case, and Christy Khattab and Matt Brown were eager to divulge the wins.
“We are absolutely thrilled with our wins at the California State Fair cheese competition!” said Christy, Director of Marketing at Cowgirl Creamery. “We made some recipe adjustments earlier this year, and we’re now using our triple cream Mt Tam base for our previously-seasonal Devil’s Gulch and Pierce Point. These award wins are reassuring that our cheeses are as high-quality and delicious as ever!”
Cowgirl Creamery showed up and showed out at the California State Fair Commercial Cheese Competition, nabbing five awards:

But wait, there’s more. Cowgirl Creamery jetted off to England for the International Cheese & Dairy Awards (ICDA), and there also came back distinctions for:
“The ICDA is a world-renowned event, and we feel honored to have brought home four more awards,” said Matt, Production Manager. “It’s an amazing feeling being able to hold our own in the ICDA and placing among 5,500 other cheesemakers in the world. To then round out the summer awards season with Wagon Wheel taking home an award at ACS, an incredibly important and respected competition of the most delicious, highest quality American cheeses, is incredibly exciting and energizing.”
Last but not least, Cowgirl Creamery also brought home an American Cheese Society award, taking home second place for its Wagon Wheel Raclette style, aged over 45 days. If that doesn’t make your mouth water, I don’t know what will.
A hearty congratulations on the awards! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some more cheese to add to my basket.
