C&S Wholesale Grocers has been quite active in the news lately, only just recently announcing its acquisition of Piggly Wiggly® Midwest. Once more, the retailer has hit the newswire; this time, with an executive appointment. C&S recently tapped Mark McGowan, an industry veteran, as its Senior Vice President of Retail.
McGowan has more than 30 years of experience in the grocery industry, with a long history of partnership with C&S in his leadership positions with retail partners, a press release stated.
Most recently, he was the President of Ahold Delhaize-backed Stop and Shop, where he led more than 65,000 employees across 416 stores.
Bob Palmer, Chief Executive Officer, remarked on McGowan’s recent appointment to his new role.
“We are very excited to have Mark’s leadership in this important market. With yesterday’s announcement on C&S’s agreement with Piggly Wiggly Midwest with the intent to purchase the Wisconsin-based wholesaler, his leadership will be critical as we expand into the Retail and Franchise space, which is an active part of C&S’s growth strategy,” said Palmer.
