Who's ready for a trip to South Florida? Traveling to the popular region may unveil Kroger's latest expansion play, as it recently bolstered its delivery service with the addition of its newest spoke facility.
"We are thrilled to connect more Floridians to the Kroger Delivery shopping experience, which brings thousands of digital coupons, valuable fuel points, and the freshest products directly to customers' doors," said Bill Bennett, Kroger Vice President and Head of E-Commerce. "Whether they are using the Kroger app or browsing our weekly ad at Kroger.com, customers can enjoy fresh, high-quality, affordable groceries delivered by best-in-class uniformed drivers."
Kroger's delivery program will now serve communities between Port St. Lucie and Homestead and on both the east and west sides of I-95. Once the orders arrive in Miami, they will be checked and placed on refrigerated delivery trucks that deliver directly to customers' doors, ensuring cold and frozen products remain at the perfect temperature.
The new 60,000-square-foot spoke facility will work in conjunction with Kroger's Groveland, Florida, fulfillment center, a release explained. Products from all orders will be picked at peak freshness from the Groveland facility, and associates will assemble and place them in climate-controlled vehicles that will travel to Miami, Florida.
This expansion to South Florida is an extension of Kroger's formidable partnership with Ocado Group, which was established in 2018. Together, the companies harness artificial intelligence, advanced robotics, and automation to bolster the retailer's services.
Kroger currently operates customer fulfillment centers in several key markets, including cities in Ohio, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Michigan, and Colorado. The retailer also has additional customer fulfillment centers slated for California, Maryland, Arizona, Ohio, North Carolina, and more.
