Snacking has long been the next frontier to conquer for Mondelēz International. Now, the company is reporting that its snack goods are in hot demand, helping the bakery giant establish its monumental presence in the category.
Glen Walter, Executive Vice President of Mondelēz and President of North America, revealed to Food Dive, that the company is experiencing “unprecedented demand” for brands like Oreo, Ritz, Triscuit, and more as consumers increasingly rely on online grocery offerings. Walter insisted one reason behind the uptick in demand is that shoppers are gravitating toward brands that “people know and trust and love.”
“There’s no question we’ve seen unprecedented demand,” stated Walter, noting that all of Mondelēz International’s brands are posting earnings “growth far above their normal rates.” “It is normalizing a bit but still, from everything we’re seeing, staying at much higher levels.”
One way Mondelēz International has helped shoppers have greater access to the brands they know and love is by improving its online search capabilities. In addition, the bakery giant launched campaigns on both Snapchat and TikTok to increase the brand’s presence in the digital world.
“Clearly, e-commerce is going to continue to evolve, and I think we’re well positioned and certainly making investments to make sure we capture the opportunity to grow,” Walter disclosed to the news source.
Mondelēz International’s latest moves follow in the footsteps of a bakery acquisition at the beginning of April, further proof of the company's expansion efforts in the snacking sector.
