Publix is hitting the retail scene with a new prototype format in the works. Recently, the retailer opened a new two-story location in Tampa, Florida, designed with traditional bakery, deli, grocery, meat, dairy, and frozen food departments, as well as a full-service fresh seafood and sushi department.
“This is our latest prototype,” shared Brian West, Community Relations Manager, in a statement sent to our sister site ANUK. “There is a mezzanine above the entrance with WiFi so our customers can enjoy their favorite Publix sub and surf the web, or a quiet place to get some work done.”
Located on 4315 W. Gandy Blvd., the store will employ approximately 175 associates comprising of transfers from existing stores alongside many new associates.
“We are very excited to open our Gandy Commons location. Our customers have waited many years for a Publix they could call their own in this area,” West continued.
According to a press release, the retailer cut the ribbon on its new format, which measures 48,000 square feet, on December 10.
Deli Market News will stay on the retailer’s trail and report if this new shopper-focused format will catch on, so keep a tab open as we bring you the latest.
