Exciting news was recently shared during Publix’s annual shareholders’ meeting, as the grocer has welcomed esteemed retail vet Mark Irby as its newest Board Member.
Irby began his illustrious career with Publix in 1973 in the sign shop in Lakeland, Florida. He worked in various capacities within that department, before he was then transferred into the advertising department as a Marketing and Research Manager in 1983. Later, in 1988, Irby was promoted to Director of Marketing and Advertising.
Soon after his promotion, Irby was then promoted to the role of Vice President of Marketing in 1989.
As noted in the release, Irby retired earlier in 2022 before being called on to join the Board of Directors.
“We congratulate Mark on his election to the Board,” Ed Crenshaw, Chairman of the Publix Board of Directors, commented on this exciting new appointment in the company press release. “His extensive experience in helping build and promote our Publix brand will bring a valuable perspective.”
