Eagerly anticipated each autumn, Rogue River Blue is crafted to reflect the rich terroir of Southern Oregon. This organic blue cheese made history as the first USA-made cheese to win the World Championship title at the World Cheese Awards in 2019/20, held in Bergamo, Italy.

According to a press release, the cheese is produced from milk sourced during fall, when the lush pastures are abundant, allowing the dairy cows to graze on nutrient-rich, certified organic grasses.

After aging, each wheel is hand-wrapped in locally harvested, bio-dynamically grown grape leaves soaked in pear spirits. This artisanal approach results in a product that is both unique and deeply connected to the local landscape. The creamery’s sustainable farming practices not only enhance the flavor profile but also support the health of the environment and the welfare of the herd.

As the cheese matures, its flavor profile becomes increasingly complex. Initially bright and mild, it evolves to reveal notes of fermented fruit and savory umami as it ages, making it a delightful addition to holiday gatherings.
