Rumiano Cheese Company Celebrates New Facility; CEO Joe Baird Comments

Steeped in history, the Rumiano family continues to dedicate itself to the cheesemaking craft with the grand opening of its new facility in Willows, California. The 46,766-square-foot cheese processing and packaging plant will enable Rumiano to double its current packaging volume by the end of 2025.

Joe Baird, Chief Executive Officer, Rumiano Cheese Company“First and foremost, it’s about the employees,” commented Joe Baird, Chief Executive Officer, when I asked him what this new facility means for the company. “This new facility has both career advancement opportunities and ergonomic innovations. People can stay here and grow here. Secondly, we have several new capabilities, such as a retail shredding operation and an R&D site where we can test new innovations in the market.”

The facility will also increase Rumiano’s processing and distribution capacity, to introduce new product lines and retail capabilities, to retain all 150 current employees, and to hire additional employees.

“This new building is upping our ability to collaborate as a team and come up with new packaging innovations to remain competitive,” Joe continued.

I was fortunate enough to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the plant, and I’ve long been a fan of both the Rumiano Cheese Company and its cheeses. The gratitude for its employees was palpable, and the love between family members touched all those who attended.

We love seeing a family success story, especially when it comes to raising a business together. Rumiano has been in the dairy business since 1919 and it continues to be at the forefront of the industry. I’m especially excited to see how this landmark facility takes the operation to new heights.
