Word of a new Chief is making its way across the retail sector. Tapping into over 25 years of expertise across grocery retail, CPG, and more, Save Mart Companies has announced Chris Hooks as its new Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer.
Hooks will use his nearly three decades of industry experience to enhance the retailer’s executive leadership and growth and innovation goals. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer at Save A Lot; Senior Vice President of Consumable Merchandising at Family Dollar; and EVP for Center Store, Fresh, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Brand Development at Topco Associates.
According to a release, Hooks also spent 11 years at H-E-B in merchandising, marketing, and store operations.
Shane Sampson, Executive Chairman of the Board, commented on the strategic leadership appointment.
“Understanding customer cohorts, their dynamic need states, and how to best anticipate and fulfill those needs are our top strategic priorities,” said Sampson. “Chris’ breadth of knowledge and experience will accelerate our ability to grow and innovate our business, attract and retain customers, and be great partners to our suppliers and associates.”
