Schnuck Markets is taking a new approach to grocery as it expands into Jasper, Indiana. The retailer unveiled a new format, “Schnucks Fresh,” and just like its name, Schnucks is placing a heavy focus on fresh departments such as bakery, meat, seafood, and produce.
“We’re excited to expand into the Jasper community and to be able to continue on our company’s mission to Nourish People’s Lives in an area new to Schnucks,” said Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck. “As a new format for us, ‘Schnucks Fresh’ will be a store that customers will be able to quickly and easily navigate where they will find an extensive selection of the same fresh products for which Schnucks is known throughout the Midwest.”
This new format will sit at 18,000 square feet, and consumers can expect doors to be open in summer of 2021. As noted by the company in a statement, this new store will be the seventh Schnucks location in Indiana in the Evansville area.
The market will add 30 new associates to the already 795 teammates employed in the area. Hiring will begin for the new store approximately six weeks ahead of the store opening, with more details shared once the company finalizes its plans.
As Schnucks and other retailers diversify to capture the market, Deli Market News will keep an eye on the newswire.
