SpartanNash, Kroger, Price Chopper, H-E-B, and now Schnuck Markets have all teamed up with their foodservice comrades in order to ensure the success of both restaurants and distributors. Last week, Schnuck Markets announced that it will help local restaurants in its community by selling grab-and-go meals.
“As a part of the St. Louis business community for more than 80 years, we feel we have an obligation to help those local restaurant entrepreneurs and their staffs who have been greatly impacted by the pandemic,” said Schnucks President and COO Dave Peacock. “Schnucks hopes that by supporting local restaurants, our customers will continue to support local businesses, too.”
According to a press release, Schnucks shoppers will now be able to shop savory meals from local favorites like Revel Kitchen, Crispy Edge, Seoul Taco, Nudo House STL, Crushed Red, and Hot Box Cookies at select Schnucks locations.

Not only has Schnucks agreed to make grab-and-go meals accessible to consumers, the retailer has also purchased in-store catering from more than 75 local restaurants to serve to Schnucks teammates at no cost to them.
“As a supporter of the St. Louis community for over 30 years, we are proud to partner with Schnucks to offer the community access to our food,” said Qui Tran, Owner of Nudo House STL and Mai Lee. “Schnucks has been on the forefront of helping local restaurants in the area find ways to keep our employees working during this pandemic and we are grateful for its leadership.”
Will more grocery retailers hop onto this trend and team up with their local foodservice counterparts? Deli Market News will continue to follow along and report how these programs are benefitting the industry as a whole.
