As brands continue to focus their efforts on building awareness for their products, innovative strategies come to light. For Dieffenbach’s, the makers of the Uglies® Kettle Cooked Potato Chip, this came in the form of a unique giveaway. Teaming up with one of its supplier partners, the company gave away potatoes in its local community.
“This is a great opportunity for the Uglies Brand to sponsor this giveaway,” stated Dwight Zimmerman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, in a press release. “The mission of the brand is to prevent food waste so all the potatoes we use are those that wouldn't be sold at stores due to being too big, too small, an odd shape, or other minor imperfections."
Potato chips are stepping up to become a high-end snack, as both consumers and restaurant operators take to pairing them on charcuterie boards. Their crunch and saltiness make them an ideal match for cheeses and meats.
As more brands like Uglies step up their brand awareness game, we here at Deli Market News will continue to follow their ingenuity.
