United Natural Foods, Inc. Announces Chris Testa to Step Down; Sandy Douglas to Assume Position

A major leadership change is coming down the pipeline for United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI). As of October 13, Chris Testa will be stepping down from his role, and Chief Executive Officer Sandy Douglas will be adding President to his title.

A United States Securities and Exchange Commission filing released by UNFI on October 3 stated that a move to combine its Services and Wholesale platforms was made in connection to Testa’s departure.

Sandy Douglas, Chief Executive Officer and Incoming President, United Natural Foods, Inc.“In a continued effort to improve execution and results, better align and simplify our organizational structure, and support our customer- and supplier-focused multi-year transformation plan, we have made the decision to combine our Services and Wholesale platforms,” said Chief Executive Officer Sandy Douglas. “This alignment of our sales, services, brands, merchandising, and digital teams will enable us to move with greater speed and alignment in support of the continued growth of our customer and supplier partners.”

Douglas has been UNFI’s CEO since August 2021. Prior to joining the company, he served as the CEO of Staples from April 2018 to June 2021. Douglas also worked for 30 years at Coca-Cola North America, part of the time as President.

Douglas began his career at The Procter & Gamble Company in sales and sales management positions. Since May 2020, he has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Wawa as well.

Chris Testa, Outgoing President, United Natural Foods, Inc.According to Providence Business News, Testa became the President of UNFI in August 2018. Throughout his tenure, he had oversight of supplier and professional services, the Brands+ business, and the Canadian business. Prior to his most recent role, he served as President of the Atlantic region for two years.

“On behalf of our entire senior leadership team, I want to thank Chris for his tremendous service and leadership over these past 14 years, and I wish him all the best as he embarks on a new chapter,” Douglas continued.
