The U.S. Championship Cheese Contest celebrated cheese’s best and brightest makers last week, and Vermont Creamery was one of the well-deserving beneficiaries of the process. The goat cheese specialists took home six awards—including a coveted “Best of Class” award for its traditional french-style Bijou.

Adeline Druart, President, Vermont Creamery“It is a true honor and a thrill to win in Wisconsin,” said President Adeline Druart, in a press release. “These awards belong to our talented team of makers; whose dedication and expertise shine through in the delicious dairy we craft every day in Vermont.”

Vermont Creamery’s cheeses and butters were selected from a field of 2,555 entries spread across 35 U.S. states. Entries were judged on their flavor, body, texture, color, salt, finish, and packaging.

Awards were announced last Thursday, March 7, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Vermont Creamery’s sea salt and maple cultured butter won second place in its category, while the company's Coupole, Cremont, Vanilla Crème Fraîche, and Fresh Crottin all took third, with Coupole, Cremont, and Fresh Crottin each earning their second cheese championship wins since 2011.

Vermont Creamery was one of five Vermont cheesemakers to win awards at what is reportedly the largest technical cheese competition in the country.
