Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association Concludes 2023 United States Championship Cheese Contest®; John Umhoefer Shares

Say cheese! The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA) has announced that the 2023 United States Championship Cheese Contest® has officially concluded! This event converged more than 2,200 cheese, yogurt, butter, and dry dairy offerings to be evaluated by a skilled team of nationally renowned judges.

As explained in a press release, preliminary rounds of judging opened to public observation on Tuesday, February 21, and Wednesday, February 22 at Resch Expo. The event wraps up today with the announcement of the 2023 U.S. Champion Cheese live online at USChampionCheese.org at 2 p.m. CT. The event was free to attend, and samples of delicious cheeses were available to attendees.

The 2023 United States Championship Cheese Contest® is officially underway as more than 2,200 cheese, yogurt, butter, and dry dairy offerings converge at Resch Expo

WCMA has hosted the competition since 1981. This year, a total of 2,249 entries have been submitted across 113 classes by cheesemakers from 35 states; these products will be evaluated by a judging team of 42 cheese graders, cheese buyers, dairy science professors, and researchers from 12 states.
