Jennie-O , Beecher's Cheese
The improved JENNIE-O Turkey Bacon is gaining popularity in retail locations nationwide. The item was featured in the 2012 edition of Women's Health's "125 Best Packaged Foods for Women" and was also recommended in the bacon category of the "Meat & Seafood" section of Hungry Girl's "Official 2013 Supermarket List," an aisle-by-aisle guide to guilt-free supermarket shopping. Jen Ehresmann, director of marketing at Jennie-O Turkey Store, tells DeliMarketTV, "Jennie-O is on a mission to help the world discover the great taste of turkey. We encourage anyone who wants to start their day with a wholesome source of protein to try the improved JENNIE-O Turkey Bacon. The product offers bacon lovers the crisp texture and delicious taste they crave, but with significantly less sodium and fat than conventional pork bacon."
Beechers has risen quickly in the industry: In 2007, Beecher’s Flagship – an aged semi-hard cow’s milk cheese with a uniquely robust and nutty flavor - won first runner up to Best in Show at the American Cheese Society Competition, a mere three years after the company’s debut. Not long after, the company saw a spike in demand in 2010, when Oprah named Beecher’s “World’s Best” Mac and Cheese in her Ultimate Favorite Things list. The company continues to win awards at competitions across the country, and in the future is looking to expand overseas, possibly in China or Japan, where they would be strategically placed amongst a populace just starting to discover the world of artisan cheeses. When asked about the origins of his company, founder of Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, Kurt Dammier, told DeliMarketTV, “I wanted to make cheese. I love cheese.”
