Maple Leaf Farms "Strut Your Duck" Contest, Snyder's-Lance Acquisition

Maple Leaf Farms is calling for entries for the 2013 “Strut Your Duck” Recipe Contest, running from September 1 to October 31. Entrants will be challenged to create original recipes that feature Maple Leaf Farms duck products along with a photo showcasing the final prepared dish with the product package. Up to three recipe entries may be submitted for appetizers, soups, salads, or entrees. These entries will be judged on the recipe, preparation, originality and creativity of the recipe, visual appeal of the final dish, and overall taste. The grand prize winner will be awarded $4,000 and free Maple Leaf Farms duck products for a year. The first runner-up will win $2,500 and the second runner-up $1,000. Public votes will decide the People’s Choice Award winner, who will receive $250. Snyder's-Lance has recently acquired substantially all assets of Stateline Service Corporation a snack food distributor in Massachusetts. The acquisition is part of the company's plans to continue growing and strengthening its national distribution network. Ed Good, President of S-L Distribution Company, a subsidiary of Snyder's-Lance, Inc., states, "We're excited to expand our direct store delivery distribution network through this acquisition...Through closer working relationships with key retailers, we expect to build on the successful business that Stateline has developed in this important geographic area."
