Burger King® restaurants are set to become the largest restaurant chain in the U.S. to serve flame-grilled hot dogs.
This title comes after the popular fast food chain adds Grilled Dogs to its permanent menu starting February 23rd. According to the company, these Grilled Dogs are made with 100% beef and flame-grilled on the same grill where Whopper® sandwiches are made.
Based on research from the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, it is estimated that Americans eat over 20 billion hot dogs a year, and Burger King is hoping to take a bite out of that market.
“The introduction of Grilled Dogs just made sense to our guests and for our brand,” said Alex Macedo, President, North America, for Burger King® brand. “We’re applying over 60 years of flame-grilling expertise with the Whopper sandwich to make Grilled Dogs the next American icon.”
These new Grilled Dogs come in two varieties: Classic Grilled Dog and the Chili Cheese Grilled Dog. They both feature 100% beef topped with a variety of toppings.
The Classic Grilled Dog has a recommended price of $1.99 compared $2.29 for the Chili Cheese Dog.
