A Manhattan monument to deli food is back in action this season; Carnegie Deli ended its 80-year stint as one of the city’s most beloved delicatessens at the close of 2016, but now it’s coming back courtesy of Amazon. The e-tailer is launching a pop-up harkening back to the classic eating experience of Carnegie Deli in the promotion of a new season of the online giant’s comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Forbes reports that, in anticipation of the Emmy award-winning show’s second season, Carnegie Deli will be making its return to New York on Wednesday, December 5, with a menu that features a new signature sandwich named after the titular Mrs. Maisel—“The Midge: a sandwich worth the schlep!” The pop-up will also offer additional sandwiches, cheesecakes, and black and white cookies.
“We’re thrilled to bring back the iconic, beloved New York Institution that is the Carnegie Deli to celebrate the upcoming season and immortalize Midge’s character through the comedic tradition of a namesake sandwich,” said Mike Benson, Head of Marketing, Amazon Studios.
The company has launched a new website, www.homeofthemaisel.com, to promote the new pop-up as well.
